There’s A New Health Detail About Trump That’s Got People Talking

A worrying new sign

For months, Donald Trump’s right hand has done all the heavy lifting when it comes to questions about his health. On Monday, his left hand finally got a turn.

Photographers caught the discoloration during an executive order signing in the Oval Office, and journalist Aaron Rupar, who has turned Trump’s hands into something of a running beat, was first to flag it.

“Bruising and discoloration was visible today on Trump’s *left* hand, which is not the one that is usually mangled,” he wrote.

This wasn’t the left hand’s first cameo either.

Back in January at Davos, Rupar had posted a nearly identical observation: “Trump’s *left* hand — not the one that is usually disfigured — now has a large bruise and is discolored.”

Commentator Keith Olbermann weighed in under that post at the time with: “So now a bruise on BOTH of Trump’s hands…from aspirin…and hand shaking… (Gotta be the secret handshake of Trump’s BORED OF PEACE).”

Monday’s replies fell into a few camps.

Skeptics of the whole conversation showed up too. “He takes aspirin. It will make you bruise easily from even a bump against the hand or any other extremity,” one person wrote.

The right hand, for its part, has a well-worn history at this point.

Photos going back months have shown it covered in a layer of makeup that doesn’t quite match his skin tone, prompting one X commenter to note: “He has a chronic bruise that he covers with makeup everyday but he doesn’t bother to color match it.”

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the bruising last July, chalking it up to frequent handshaking, an explanation several people have pointed out doesn’t quite work for a hand Trump doesn’t actually use to shake hands.
