On Friday, Iran announced that it had opened the Straight of Hormuz to commercial shipping, at least during the 10 days of the agreed-to ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.

Earlier in the week, President Donald Trump seemed to contradict himself when it came to what he had to say about the Strait.

According to the Mirror, Trump appeared “to contradict himself within seconds while answering questions about the US blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.”

As noted by the report, the president “was asked by a journalist if he anticipated getting any help from other countries in blockading the Strait of Hormuz, to which he immediately replied: ‘Yeah, other countries are going to, also.'”

But the president seemed to contradict that answer immediately.

“We don’t need other countries, frankly, but they’ve offered their services. We’ll let it be known probably tomorrow.”

Social media posters were shocked by the president’s seemingly instant contradiction.
