Over the past weeks, Gavin Newsom’s press office has filled its account with loud posts, bold nicknames, and playful memes aimed at Donald Trump.
On Friday, the account shared a short message that read, “Have a great weekend, patriots! 🇺🇸”

It looked light and friendly, but Trump supporters quickly took it as a direct hit.

In the past weeks Newsom has warned Trump to stand down or face a legal counter strike on redistricting. He even called him “Donald TACO Trump” which means Trump Always Chickens Out. The posts are short, loud, and written to grab attention. They are also written to get under Trump’s skin.
He’s also flipping Trump’s old playbook right back on him. For years, Trump owned the internet stage with insults and one-liners. Now Newsom is the one firing shots online, mocking him, rattling him, and showing zero fear. Every time MAGA melts down, Newsom looks stronger.
And the numbers show it is paying off. Polls now have Newsom climbing in the Democratic race. His approval in California is moving up while Trump’s numbers keep sliding down. Not bad for a guy who just told Trump’s fans to “have a great weekend.”
