Trump Admin Reportedly Emailed Federal Employees Urging Them To Quit In An Effort To Slash Government Workforce

Today in Trump administration insanity

This is weird, even for Donald Trump: His administration emailed government personnel around 8:30 p.m. Thursday asking federal workers to quit their “lower productivity jobs” and look for employment in the private sector. Mind you, this is right after the deadly crash that involved an American Airlines jet and an Army Black Hawk helicopter that resulted in 67 people being killed.

But since when does Donald Trump ever care about Americans losing their lives, considering how he handled the COVID-19 pandemic as 400,000 Americans died under his watch? He doesn’t care about American lives, and his administration wouldn’t urge people dedicated to ensuring safety to quit their jobs.

The administration couldn’t have sent these emails during a worse time.

“We encourage you to find a job in the private sector as soon as you would like to do so,” stated the email from the Office of Personnel Management, according to The New York Times. “The way to greater American prosperity is encouraging people to move from lower productivity jobs in the public sector to higher productivity jobs in the private sector.”

According to The Daily Beast, the email was in the form of Frequently Asked Questions, and it urged employees who decide to leave their jobs to take a second job or take a vacation to their “dream destination” while they were on the payroll before clearing their desks.

Apparently the nudniks who came up with this email are unaware that there are regulations that were implemented years ago that prohibit federal employees from taking on second jobs.

Dang. This is just plain dumb. Or these folks don’t care if they upend regulations. Of course, the Trump administration has become the bull in the china shop considering all the mayhem they are wreaking in the country right now.

That email is on the heels of an earlier one that waved other incentives in the faces of federal workers, including offering eight months of pay if they left their jobs by Feb. 6.

Nick Daniels, president of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, told the Times it is “not yet clear” how the resignation program will be conducted. Daniels, the union representative for air traffic controllers, also said that union workers are “concerned” about the damage that may be done because of losing “experienced aviation safety personnel during a universally recognized air traffic controller staffing shortage.”

I don’t fully understand why the Trump administration is pulling such a half-assed and possibly dangerous move. I look at it this way: What if these people tried to encourage all firefighters in the Los Angeles area to leave right after the devastating fires the world witnessed this month? While I’m sure Trump and his minions can’t do this, look at all the damage they are already doing to the country. I think these two instances can be compared. Air traffic personnel are crucial for keeping people safe while they are in the air.

That’s just my two cents. I’m no expert on how all these regulations work, but Trump administration officials clearly don’t know either. And they are supposed to know.

They are already failing at their jobs.
