Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was caught on a hot mic asking U.S. President Donald Trump if he could meet Trump’s son Eric.

The exchange happened right after Trump gave a speech at a Gaza-focused summit in Sharm el-Sheikh. Neither leader seemed aware that their conversation was being recorded.

Prabowo mentioned a region that was “not safe, security-wise” and then asked, “Can I meet Eric?”

Trump replied, “I’ll have Eric call. Should I do that? He’s such a good boy. I’ll have Eric call.”

Prabowo said, “We’ll look for a better place,” and Trump repeated, “I’ll have Eric call you.” Prabowo then asked, “Eric or Don Jr.”

Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. are executive vice presidents of the Trump Organization, which holds business projects in Indonesia, including a golf club near Jakarta and a resort in Bali.

It remains unclear whether a recent meeting involved these business ventures or had any connection to President Trump’s official duties. The White House and the Indonesian Embassy in Washington have not offered comment.

The interaction gained notice. Observers highlighted the unusual scenario of a foreign leader requesting a meeting with the president’s adult children, who have no government role.

Here’s how people reacted online.

In addition to the Indonesian projects, Eric and Donald Jr. oversee ventures in real estate, hospitality, and blockchain. The close ties between the family’s business interests and the president have prompted scrutiny about how private enterprises intersect with international relations.
