Frankly, it’s difficult for Donald Trump to do something that catches me off guard these days. After what feels like a lifetime of reporting on his, throughout his first election campaign, his presidency, his horrifying fall from grace, his third presidential campaign, and his absolute mountain of scandals and legal troubles, it’s just very rare that I truly find myself surprised by something he’s said or done.

Disgusted, yes. Often. But rarely ever truly surprised.

However, this one caught me off guard… In the worst kind of way.

Donald has, as we’re all painfully aware, switched to using his own Truth Social platform as a makeshift personal diary after he was given the boot from his beloved Twitter thanks to his disgusting rhetoric surrounding the January 6th Capitol insurrection.

Now that he’s neck deep in the slew of civil and criminal lawsuits, investigations, and court trials that were all waiting to drop on his head like a 10-pound hammer the moment he was no longer protected by the powers of the United States presidency, that makeshift diary of his has grown more and more unhinged and unsettling with each passing day.

This week, the scandal-ridden, properly disgraced former president took to Truth Social to amplify what appears to be a likely fan-made video praising Donald Trump as basically the true meaning of life.

The deeply disturbing, 2:12 long video features a narrator voicing over a montage of various photos of Donald Trump, including some from his childhood and young adult years, as well as quick video clips as the narrator begins:

I’m going to look you in the eyes and I’m going to tell you the future. It’s an American story and that’s why Americans are going to love it.

People are going to build you up. God, are they going to because when you’re great, and new, we love you.

Man, we’ll build you into something that doesn’t even exist. You’re going to change the fucking world.

But you know what? Once they’ve built you as high as they possibly can, they’re going to tear you back down.

It’s the most predictable pattern. We build you into something that doesn’t exist and that means you have to try to be that thing all day, every day. That’s how it works, and we do it again and again and again.

A lot of people can climb that mountain. It’s the way down that breaks them because that’s the moment when you are truly alone. And what will you do then?

Can you summon the will to fight on through all the pain and rise again? That will be the defining question of your life, and I think you already know the answer. And that’s why we’re all here.”

I am fully aware that this portion alone is enough to make your skin crawl for the rest of eternity. But, believe it or not, it gets a lot worse, as the narrator will soon imply that Donald J. Trump is what gives our lives true meaning, and Donald believes this in his heart of hearts and soul of souls enough to peddle the notion to the American public.

As the tone of the video and the narrator’s voice changes, we hear:

A shoe is just a shoe until somebody steps into it, then it has meaning. The rest of us just want a chance to just touch that greatness. We need you in these shoes, not so you have meaning in your life, but so that we have meaning in ours.

Everyone will be forgotten, as soon as our time here is up, except for you. You’re going to be remembered forever because some things are eternal. And your story is going to make us fight and never give up.”

It has never been more important to vote in your entire life than it is right now.
