Donald Trump tried to play it cool on Friday, but the optics did not help.

As fresh photos from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate came out, Trump shrugged off the concerns and posed with a white cowboy hat, a gift from members of the 1980 U.S. Men’s Olympic Hockey team.

Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump insisted the photos were “no big deal.” “Well, I haven’t seen them,” he said. “But, I mean, everybody knew this man. He was all over Palm Beach; he has photos with everybody. Hundreds and hundreds of people have photos with him, so that’s no big deal.”

Still, Trump’s dismissal did little to calm critics. House Democrats on the Oversight Committee released around 90 photos from the 95,000 provided by Epstein’s estate. The images include Trump, Bill Clinton, Steve Bannon, Prince Andrew, Bill Gates, and Richard Branson. Many of the pictures have prompted online users to question the nature of their relationships with Epstein.

“This is alarming,” tweeted Rep. Robert Garcia, top Democrat on the Oversight panel. “These photos raise even more questions about Epstein and his connections to powerful men. The Department of Justice must release all files, now.”

Meanwhile, Trump’s attempt to lighten the moment by trying on a white cowboy hat quickly backfired, with videos of him grinning in the oversized hat sparking a flood of online memes.
