Trump is now pointing his threats at Chicago.
On Truth Social, he posted an AI-made image that looked like a movie poster. The words read: “I love the smell of deportations in the morning … Chicago about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR.”
It was a parody of Apocalypse Now. But no one in Chicago is laughing.

Trump has been hitting Democrat-led cities for months. He already sent the National Guard into Los Angeles in June. He deployed them again in Washington, D.C. last month. Now he is promising to do the same in Chicago.
This comes just days after a federal judge ruled his Los Angeles action illegal. Judge Charles Breyer said Trump broke the law by using the military for domestic law enforcement. But Trump has made it clear that court rulings will not stop him.
When reporters asked if he really plans to send troops to Chicago, Trump grinned in the Oval Office. “We’re going in. I didn’t say when, we’re going in.” That was all he said.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker fired back on X. “The President of the United States is threatening to go to war with an American city. This is not a joke. This is not normal. Donald Trump isn’t a strongman, he’s a scared man. Illinois won’t be intimidated by a wannabe dictator.”

Behind the scenes, federal plans are already in motion. A memo obtained by CBS News showed Homeland Security asked the Pentagon for space at Naval Station Great Lakes. That’s the largest Navy training site in the country, about 50 miles north of Chicago.
The memo said DHS wanted room for 250 federal agents and 140 vehicles. It also said they would need the base for 30 days. A U.S. official confirmed that agents and equipment are already arriving.
DHS then released its own statement.
“Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, nowhere is a safe haven for criminal illegal aliens. If you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will hunt you down, arrest you, deport you, and you will never return.”
Chicago leaders are preparing for a showdown. City and state officials say they will sue. Activists and church groups are already warning immigrant families. Schools are bracing. The fear has reached the streets.
Organizers even canceled the downtown Mexican Independence Day festival. They said families were too worried about raids. No new date has been set.
