Yesterday afternoon, a New York federal jury reached a monumental and brutal verdict in the infamous rape and defamation case brought against Donald J. Trump by world-renowned author and advice columnist, E. Jean Carroll, who has publicly accused the now-former president of brutally sexually assaulting her in the dressing room of a Manhattan department store in the 1990s.

Following only a few short hours of deliberation, the jury on the trial found former US President Donald Trump liable for sexual battery and defamation against E. Jean Carroll.

ABC News reported on the bombshell news, “The jury awarded Carroll a total of $5 million in the lawsuit. Jury members found that Trump did not rape Carroll but sexually abused her, and awarded damages of $2 million in compensatory damages and $20,000 in punitive damages for battery.”

“The jury awarded $1 million in damages, $1.7 million for reputation repair, and $280,000 in punitive damages, for defamation.”

Trump was, of course, very quick to lash out against the verdict on his Truth Social platform, writing in an all-caps, rage-filled post that he has “ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHO THIS WOMAN IS,” before going on to call the verdict a “disgrace.”

Suffice it to say, Trump isn’t handling the verdict well. At all. And his accuser has absolutely no sympathy for him.

Following the $5 million victory verdict in her civil battery and defamation case against Donald Trump, E. Jean Carroll made an appearance on CNN this morning where she took a well-deserved victory lap after years of legal proceedings and made sure to openly taunt the former president for not showing up to his own trial, saying that Donald was too scared to show.

“There is sort of a feeling of victory, that at last somebody has held him accountable in a courtroom,” Carroll said in this morning’s CNN interview. “So it’s such a mash of overwhelming emotions, it’s hard to put into words.”

Anchor Poppy Harlow questioned, “What about appeals? We heard the president say they will appeal. …What would the grounds be when the Trump team didn’t present a defense and he didn’t step foot in that courtroom? Your perspective?”

Carroll’s attorney, Roberta Kaplan, weighed in to answer Harlow’s questions, saying, “We heard Donald Trump say on the tape that the judge went out of his way to be unfair. Actually, the opposite is true. He went out of his way to be fair to Donald Trump. He gave him multiple opportunities to show up in the courtroom and testify, and Donald Trump decided not to. There are no issues in this case on appeal. They’ll make them, but there are no serious issues on appeal.”

“If Trump had come — well, first, do you wish he had come?” the CNN host went on to ask. “What would you have said?”

“Yeah, I did,” Carroll personally responded. “I would have loved to see Robbie put him on the stand. I just would have loved it. If you have seen any portions of the deposition, that was Robbie doing the questions. It would have been a glorious moment. However, I think he was frightened. I think he was frightened. I think he was frightened of her.”
