Trump Brags About Walmart ‘Affordability’ Deal — Then Gets Humiliated By A Brutal Community Note

Donald Trump tried to serve up a win this Thanksgiving, but it didn’t exactly go down the way he hoped.

On Wednesday, Trump fired off one of his signature Truth Social posts, this time bragging about a supposed drop in Thanksgiving dinner prices.

“Walmart just announced that Prices for a Thanksgiving Dinner is now down 25% since under Sleepy/Crooked Joe Biden, in 2024,” he wrote. “AFFORDABILITY is a Republican Stronghold. Hopefully, Republicans will use this as irrefutable fact!”

Trump’s message was simple: under his leadership, America eats better for less.

But the internet wasn’t buying it. Within hours, a community note appeared on X (the site formerly known as Twitter) explaining that Walmart’s “Thanksgiving dinner” wasn’t quite the same meal Trump was celebrating.

Turns out, Walmart did lower the price, but also quietly trimmed the menu.

Walmart’s 2025 Thanksgiving package now costs $40 and serves 10 people, about $4 per person. Last year’s version was $56 for 8 people, about seven dollars each. That looks like a big drop, until you notice what’s missing.

The 2025 meal includes six fewer items. The premade pie is gone. The cranberry sauce? Gone. Onions? Also gone. Even the turkey costs nine cents more.

So yes, the meal is cheaper, but that’s because it’s smaller.

The community note also pointed out that Walmart changed the meal’s size, composition, and branding, meaning Trump’s “25% drop” was not an apples-to-apples comparison. The internet loved it.

Still, Trump doubled down the next day, posting again on Truth Social.

“2025 Thanksgiving dinner under Trump is 25% lower than 2024 Thanksgiving dinner under Biden, according to Walmart,” he wrote. “My costs are lower than the Democrats on everything, especially oil and gas! So the Democrats ‘affordability’ issue is DEAD! STOP LYING!!!”

He left out that prices overall are still rising. According to the Labor Department, food prices climbed 3.1 percent over the last year, while consumer prices rose 3 percent. Inflation has cooled slightly, but it’s still higher than it was before Trump’s 2024 win.

Meanwhile, voters aren’t exactly feeling the prosperity he keeps talking about. The Associated Press reported that economic anxiety actually helped Democrats score big wins in recent elections. In New Jersey, Democrat Mikie Sherrill won about two thirds of voters who said “the economy” was their top issue. Democrats also swept key races in Virginia, New York, and California.
