Trump Breaks His Silence On The Two Assassination Attempts On His Life

Seems casual about threats

Donald Trump has been called many names, some insulting, some reverent. But in her new video series “1 on 1 with Kai Trump,” his granddaughter keeps it simple: Grandpa.

Kai Trump, the eldest daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa, is 18, a University of Miami commit, and has more than 6 million followers online. She has already launched deals like her recent partnership with Accelerator Active Energy alongside NFL star Travis Kelce and gymnast Livvy Dunne. Clearly, the family business is already in motion.

During a round of golf with Kai, Trump laughed about all the security around him after surviving two assassination attempts last year. The video appeared on YouTube on Saturday and showed Trump smiling as his granddaughter pointed out the dozens of Secret Service members standing nearby.

“The security is all down the line. It’s smart. You had too many close calls,” she said.

“I had some close calls,” Trump answered after a short pause. “That’s true, honey.”

Close calls may be the mildest way to describe it. Trump was shot at twice last year. One bullet hit his ear at a rally in Butler Pennsylvania, before killing firefighter Corey Comperatore. The second attempt happened months later at his West Palm Beach golf course. Ryan Routh, 59, was found guilty last month for the second attack.

The conversation turned to global politics. On the Russia-Ukraine war, Trump told Kai he hopes to “hopefully get [Vladimir] Putin and [Volodymyr] Zelensky to stop killing everybody” soon. That is a bold claim coming from a man whose foreign policy expertise comes mainly from social media posts.

After the heavy topics, the discussion moved to golf. Kai asked about his favorite players. Trump named Jack Nicholson, Tiger Woods, and Gary Player, and added current stars Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau. He called Scheffler “great” and said he “loved” Dechambeau. It was clear that golf still beats governing in his mind.

He also spoke about his youngest son, Barron calling him a “good boy” but said he wished Barron had joined them for the round. And for trivia fans, Trump said red is his favorite color probably because it represents Make America Great Again.

Kai asked for his “best advice.” Trump said it is “to love” what you do, “otherwise you’re not going to do it well.” Solid advice if you ignore that the man giving it has spent much of his life focused on himself.
