Trump Called For “Hacks & Thugs” Of The J6 House Select Committee To Be “Tried For Fraud And Treason”

His fear is really getting to him.

Trump’s panic and desperation are clearly really starting to get to him, as the washed-up, scandal-ridden former president took to his struggling Truth Social platform recently, deeply emboldened by Tucker Carlson’s infamous whitewashing of the deadly January 6th Capitol attack, and openly called for the “hacks and thugs” who served on the January 6th House Select Committee to be “tried for fraud and treason.”

Tucker Carlson recently obtained a trove of January 6th footage from none other than newly-appointed Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, and the Fox talking head has since been using those clips to try to re-spin the narrative around the violent, deadly Capitol insurrection, incited by Trump himself and carried out by a mob of his most violent, rabid supporters.

Carlson has thoroughly cherry-picked through these clips and, in multiple segments, has attempted to convince the American people that “they” have been lying about the deadly violence that took place at the Capitol on that fateful day, backing up his whitewashing lies with out of context clips showing brief moments of peace at the Capitol building — conveniently ignoring and leaving out the hours of footage showing the violence and out of control mayhem that Americans have already seen through the course of the House Select Committee’s investigation and public hearings.

Now, Carlson and Trump have seemingly fallen into a vicious cycle of emboldening the worst parts of each other, as he took to Truth Social and lauded Tucker’s lie-filled coverage of the J6 attack, before going on to call for fraud and treason charges against every member of the House Select Committee that dared to investigation the insurrection, and Trump’s personal role in it:

GREAT JOB BY TUCKER CARLSON TONIGHT. The Unselect Committee of political Hacks & Thugs has been totally discredited. They knowingly refused to show the Videos that mattered. They should be tried for Fraud and Treason, and those imprisoned and being persecuted should be exonerated and released, NOW!”

At first glance, Trump’s Truth Social post reads like little more than the stimulant-fueled ramblings of a troubled, broken man that we’ve come to know and expect.

But it’s worth noting here that charges of treason in the United States are punishable by death, as outlined by 18 U.S.C. § 2381:

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.”

Does he truly want members of the United States Congress put to death? Or is this just another instance of his dramatic hyperbole? There’s no true way to know what’s going on in Donald’s mind when he pens these unhinged raging rants of his, but considering that Trump has been promising “RETRIBUTION” upon his possible return to the White House, I can’t say that I would put anything past him at this point.
