Donald Trump was in true form during a press briefing from the White House Rose Garden on Monday, opening up his remarks with a list of lies in an attempt to make his appallingly slow response to the novel coronavirus pandemic appear otherwise. Trump did not have the usual experts by his side since they are self-quarantining after the White House has become a giant COVID-19 Petri dish.
Trump tries to lord over reporters — especially woman reporters — during his briefings that are meant to update a panic-stricken country on the potentially deadly pandemic. Trump lashed out at two female reporters today, because of course he did.
CBS News White House correspondent Weijia Jiang asked the president a reasonable question to which he offered a racist response. That’s just who Trump is.
When asked why Trump has treated the pandemic as “a global competition,” when “Americans are losing their lives every day?” Trump told the reporter who was born in China, “Maybe that’s a question you should ask China.”

“Why are you saying that to me, specifically?” Jiang asked.
“I’m saying it to anybody who would ask a nasty question like that,” Trump shot back.
Watch:
.@weijia: Why is this a global competition to you when Americans are losing their lives every day?
TRUMP: Maybe that’s a question you should ask China.

A second woman reporter was the target of Trump’s wrath today. CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins attempted to ask the president a question and that’s when Trump cut her off and abruptly ended the press briefing.

Trump has always been intimidated by strong, accomplished women, and we’re sorry, Donald, if the scary women frightened you by doing their jobs. The fact that Americans have to hold their breath when watching Trump’s briefings in case he starts raging at reporters, his predecessor, and media figures who are critical of him, speaks volumes of what a fucking disaster this administration is amid a national crisis.
