The revelations just keep rolling in from excerpts of New York Times correspondent and so-called “Trump Whisperer” Maggie Haberman’s upcoming new tell-all book, Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America.
But this one’s pretty much guaranteed to make Thanksgiving dinner at the Trump house hella awkward for everyone.
CNN is out with new reporting today on revelations hailing from Haberman’s bombshell new book, in which the New York Times correspondent tells of the time Donald Trump came within an inch of literally firing his own daughter, Ivanka, and her husband, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, from their senior positions within his White House, via a tweet, of all things.
According to CNN’s reporting on Haberman’s book, the topic of canning his own close family members came up during a meeting between Trump and his then-chief of staff John Kelly and then-White House counsel Don McGahn. Both Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner were serving as senior White House aides in Trump’s administration. There allegedly came a point in the meeting where Trump was within a moment of sending out one of his infamous tweets, this time one that would announce the departure of his daughter and son-in-law from his White House. Trump was only stopped from sending out the tweet when Kelly told him he had to speak to Ivanka and Jared before blindsiding them with a tweet that would effectively serve as their termination from his administration — a move Trump was notorious for with other officials in his White House.

Haberman writes that — in his deep-seated, cowardly avoidance of interpersonal conflict — that conversation with his son-in-law and daughter never came to fruition. Jared and Ivanka both remained in Donald Trump’s White House until the day he was booted out after he lost the election. However, that didn’t restore any love for Jared Kushner in Donald’s cold heart, often mocking his eldest daughter’s husband as pretentious and basically useless.
Following Kushner’s 2017 public remarks in the aftermath of his congressional testimony, Trump said, “He sounds like a child,” according to Haberman.
To be a fly on the wall the next time this family has a get-together…
