So many times, I have found myself saying (or, rather, typing) the words, “We couldn’t make this up if we tried.”
I’m sure that, over the years, it’s begun to lose its punchiness. Some readers probably find themselves thinking, “She says that about everything.”
But trust me, when it comes to covering the likes of Donald Trump, I mean it every single time I say it. Including this one.
Today, the truly scandal-ridden former president sat down for a one-on-one exclusive interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, where he openly expressed how proud and genuinely over the moon he is over the newfound success he’s had in the music “industry,” after his song collaboration with a choir of prisoners who are jailed for their participation in the January 6th Capitol attack hit the top of the musical charts.

In case you missed it, the opening portion of Trump’s Waco, TX, campaign rally over the weekend featured an anthem-style pro-Trump song by the J6 Prison Choir, titled “Justice For All,” as a montage of images of the infamous insurrection was played across the video screens in the style of a cheesy high school graduation slideshow.
That song has somehow managed to see quite a bit of success across US music charts in recent weeks.
During their one-on-one sitdown, Hannity asked, “Are you really beating Taylor Swift, by the way?”
“I did!” the disgraced former president proudly exclaimed. “The J6 is beating Taylor Swift. It’s Donald Trump and the J6 prisoners!” as he proceeded to rattle off a list of the streaming charts and various major musical entities the disturbing song collaboration is currently sitting at the top of.
“On iTunes, on Amazon…” Trump driveled on, prompting the Fox host to interrupt with a well-placed, “Wow.”
“And on Billboard!” the ex-president went on to declare before quite literally comparing himself to Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll. “Which is the big deal. Number one: Donald Trump. So now I feel like Elvis! Because we’ve done The Apprentice, that was a great success. Now I’ve done a recording, or whatever you call it.”
Trump doesn’t actually sing in the collab (thankfully,) but rather is said to have sent in a recording of himself reciting the Pledge of Allegiance that was then juxtaposed over the choir of January 6th inmates singing the Star Spangled Banner over their respective jail phones.
For once in his life, the former guy was quick to give the credit for something to someone other than himself, saying that the prisoner’s are credited for the unsettling song’s commercial success in the real world.
“You know what that is?” Trump said. “That’s a tribute to the fact that people feel the J6 people have been very unfairly treated.”
