Today, Trump made an announcement from the Rose Garden of the White House that he was officially declaring a national emergency for the United States of America regarding the outbreak of coronavirus that’s now sweeping across the country.
For the most part, the event was actually one of his better speeches. While many reporters indicated that Trump would be going teleprompter-free for this address, it was strikingly evident that someone went to some pretty serious lengths to keep Donald in check when he made his announcement. I’m not sure if it was the threat of yet another plummet in the stock market, his personal concerns about his own health now that he’s been exposed to the virus numerous times, or simply an exasperated White House team that’s had enough of his shit and finally put their foot down — but somehow, someway Trump pretty much made sense through the whole thing, announced some decent new rules and plans to help reduce the impact, and kept the bullshit to a minimum.
That is until the slightest hint of Obama was in the air.
Part of the announcement today was in regard to the website that’s currently being constructed to help people determine if their illness might actually be COVID-19 and if so, where their closest site is to get tested and get their results in a timely manner.

The website is a good idea, considering. However, Trump simply couldn’t pass up the chance to take a thinly-veiled jab at Obama’s website for his Affordable Care Act plan as he bragged on how quickly his website was going to go up.
“I want to thank Google. Google is helping to develop a website,” Trump stated in his speech. “It’s gonna be very quickly done, unlike websites of the past, to determine whether a test is warranted and to facilitate testing…”

Ahh. There it is. It never fails.
Honestly, I’ll be the first to admit that I was naive as all get out to think, even for a moment, that we could get through one single Trump speech, even if it is in the midst of a pandemic, without him doing something to remind us all that he’s an ass.
