In a social media post that was unhinged even by his standards, Donald Trump posted a chart on Thursday ranking presidents throughout history, placing himself at the top as “The Greatest.” This placed him ahead of the merely great presidents, such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Thomas Jefferson, and Andrew Jackson.
Under “failures,” Trump listed his two predecessors, Barack Obama and Joseph Biden, along with Ulysses S. Grant, Warren G. Harding, and Jimmy Carter.
Trump just posted his own presidential ranking, putting himself in the “greatest” category above Lincoln, Washington, FDR, and every other president. pic.twitter.com/ZxcckuQVwL

Later that night, someone figured out what Trump did: He took a presidential ranking chart from 1948, assembled from a survey of historians by Arthur M Schlesinger, Sr., and simply added himself to the top, and his enemies, Obama and Biden, to the bottom. This might explain why several postwar presidents, including Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, and both Bushes, are not included at all. William Henry Harrison and James A. Garfield are also missing, although Bill Clinton is included in the “average” category.
Another hysterical troll by Trump…
His Presidential ratings chart was taken directly from a 1948 issue of Life Magazine by historian Arthur Schlesinger (a Democrat). Trump simply slapped on Clinton as average, and Biden, Obama and Carter as failures, then put himself on top. pic.twitter.com/b7yECtXmiS— Dan Freemont 🇺🇸 (@TheeDanFreeman) August 28, 2026

Social media users mocked Trump’s rankings.
Very typical Trump in that this is meant to be an own-the-libs provocation but is just confusing, lazy and goofy. Why is there no ranking of any president from Truman to Ford, as well as no Reagan or Bushes? Why, contrary to contemporary right wing views (which Trump has… https://t.co/p16eIiRlEc

Trump’s stupid chart of “greatest” presidents is a chart from Life Magazine in 1948, with his name added at the top and the Democrats he doesn’t like at the bottom. Exactly the kind of thing a healthy, high-functioning person shares. pic.twitter.com/ugUoImCnTb

This ranking validates my view that Trump is fundamentally low IQ & deeply ignorant of American history. https://t.co/GAJwu6OiD7
