President Donald Trump stepped into the Rose Garden on Monday sporting yet another noticeably different hairstyle—and social media wasted virtually no time weighing in.
Trump appeared at a White House Rose Garden event on August 24 with his familiar blond hair swept into an unusually pronounced side part, a departure from both his trademark comb-over and the considerably fuller hairstyle that sparked widespread speculation earlier this month.
Progressive journalist Aaron Rupar quickly zeroed in on the change.
“Trump is going with a weird side part today. Might be time to bring back the wig,” Rupar wrote on X alongside video of the president:

The appearance was indeed from Monday’s White House schedule. The White House listed Trump as participating in a Rose Garden event at 2:30 p.m., while its official live page also identified an August 24 Rose Garden appearance by the president. Trump’s Hair Has Already Become a Story This Month
Rupar’s “wig” jab wasn’t entirely out of nowhere.
Earlier in August, Trump appeared in Las Vegas with hair that looked considerably fuller and more voluminous than Americans have grown accustomed to seeing. The dramatic change prompted a wave of online speculation about whether the 80-year-old president had begun wearing a hairpiece.
People reported that Rupar was among those who noticed the transformation, posting at the time: “Is Trump rocking a wig, or what the hell is going on here?” He later remarked on Trump’s noticeably increased hair volume. (People.com)

There has been no confirmation that Trump is actually wearing a wig, and photographs or videos alone obviously cannot establish that. But that hasn’t stopped the internet from turning the president’s suddenly shifting hairstyles into a running joke.
From the Mystery Volume to the Side Part
Monday’s look only gave social media more material.
Instead of the unusually voluminous style that generated the earlier “wig” speculation, Trump appeared to have his hair flattened and swept heavily toward one side, producing something closer to a traditional side part.
The fascination might seem frivolous, but Trump has spent decades carefully cultivating his appearance and personal brand. His distinctive hair has become nearly as recognizable as his red ties and “Make America Great Again” hats.
And Trump himself has repeatedly demonstrated an acute awareness of how he looks on television and in photographs.
That makes a sudden series of dramatically different hairstyles particularly irresistible to the online world—especially when the president’s appearance can seemingly change from one public event to the next.
The timing also comes as Trump remains intensely visible ahead of November’s midterm elections.
