What will Donald Trump do after leaving office? Most likely, he will return to Mar-a-Lago, or perhaps spend some time at one of his other estates.
However, Trump made a jaw-dropping comment Friday about his possible post-White House plans.
According to The Independent, Trump said he might want to live near Fort Bragg in North Carolina, after discussing planned improvements to the area.
“In fact, I’m thinking about moving here someday. Maybe I’ll, maybe I’ll move here with our great movie star … with our First Lady,” Trump said, during his visit to Fort Bragg.
PRESIDENT TRUMP jokes about moving to Fort Bragg:
“I’m thinking about moving here someday… With our First Lady, we’ll move to Fort Bragg — would you like that darling?”

“We’ll move to Fort. Bragg. Would you like that, darling?,” he asked the first lady. “It’s a possibility — actually, it’s not a bad idea, because we love it.”
The tone of most media coverage of that moment seems to indicate that the president was kidding, although his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, has ties to North Carolina and has considered running for office there.
Trump had lived in New York for his entire life, along with residents in many other places, although he switched his primary residence from New York to Florida during his first term as president.
Per an AP account, the speech by the president at Fort Bragg was very political in nature.
“The visit often felt more like a political rally than an official visit to celebrate the U.S. armed forces. Trump’s lauding of the raid that toppled Maduro came only after he called to the stage Michael Whatley, a former Republican National Committee chair who has the president’s endorsement as he now runs for Senate in North Carolina,” the AP story said.
Trump can fly to Fort Bragg, give a campaign rally in front of uniformed troops, and tell them how to vote—and that’s just “patriotic.” But 6 veterans in Congress remind those same troops they must refuse illegal orders, and his DOJ tries to brand it sedition “punishable by… pic.twitter.com/hYIjZOPjOX

“‘As long as I’m president, we will be the best led, the best trained, the best equipped, the most disciplined and the most elite fighting force the world has ever seen’ and noted of would-be U.S. adversaries, ‘Everybody knows it,” was how the AP characterized Trump’s remarks.
“They know exactly what they would be up against. Hopefully, we’ll never have to test them and, because of our strength, and because of what we do, we probably won’t have to be tested.”
