Donald Trump fired a harsh attack late at night against Geoff Duncan, a former top Republican leader from Georgia.
Just after 1 a.m. on Friday, Trump posted on his social media site Truth Social calling Duncan a “total loser.” He said Duncan “was never able to get anything done” and added that the Republican Party did not want him anymore. Trump also pointed out that Duncan switched to the Democratic Party. He ended by saying, “Good riddance Geoff. You don’t even have a chance!!!”
Geoff Duncan recently left the Republican Party and joined the Democrats. This was a big move after months of tension between Duncan and Trump. Duncan served as lieutenant governor of Georgia but was pushed out by the GOP after speaking against Trump’s claims about the 2020 election. Duncan stood for truth and refused to follow Trump’s push to overturn the results.
In the 2020 election, Duncan voted for Trump. But after Trump lost, he pressured leaders in many states, including Georgia, to change the vote results. Duncan did not go along with this. He sided with Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, both Republicans, who also supported the election outcome. Despite Trump attacking them, Kemp and Raffensperger won re-election by large margins in 2022.
Because of his refusal to support Trump’s claims, Duncan was kicked out of the Georgia GOP in January. He also chose not to run again for lieutenant governor. Since then, Duncan has openly spoken against Trump and how Trump controls the Republican Party.

In 2023, Duncan said that Trump’s “moral compass” was “more like an ax murderer than a president.” He said the Republican Party today is very different from the one he grew up with. Duncan added, “Donald Trump completely controls the entire GOP. The only example I can give that equates to it is like a rogue cult leader coming into a church and taking it over. He’s brainwashed them.”
Duncan has been on TV many times sharing his views on Trump and politics. Last year, he spoke at the Democratic National Convention where he showed support for then-Vice President Kamala Harris.
There is talk that Duncan may run for governor of Georgia in 2026. The current governor, Brian Kemp, cannot run again because of term limits. Duncan running as a Democrat would shake up the state and challenge Trump’s power in Georgia.
