On Saturday night, Donald Trump spoke at a black-tie dinner in Washington. The event was the American Cornerstone Institute’s Founders Dinner, hosted by his former Housing Secretary Ben Carson.
Trump began with a list of what he called achievements, such as “ending the weaponization of law enforcement against religious believers.” It did not take long before he shifted the focus to Joe Biden.
“Biden was always a mean guy, but never a smart guy,” Trump said. “We go back 30 years, 40 years, he’s a stupid guy.”
He pressed on. “He was always a mean son of a b***h. How’s it working? Not working too well for him now. When you start feeling sorry for him, remember he was a bad guy.”

The crowd responded with claps, laughs, and a few stiff looks.
Carson launched his institute with his wife in 2021, yet Trump gave little attention to that. His focus stayed on Biden, circling back to him throughout the speech.
For years, Trump has tied Biden’s name to nearly every issue. Gas prices. Immigration. Foreign wars. The economy. Even The Wall Street Journal noted recently that this routine “won’t work for much longer.” Still, Trump continues with it.
His language has also stayed the same.
As far back as 2019, he was calling Biden “stupid” and a “low IQ person.” Earlier this year, he even shared a post online pushing the strange idea that Biden was executed in 2020 and replaced by a robot clone. He did not seem bothered by how ridiculous it sounded.
The speech on Saturday showed no change in tone. The words were sharper, but the style had not moved.
At one point, Trump claimed George Washington would have voted for him. He also said someone ranked him the “third best president” in U.S. history, after Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The audience gave polite applause, though the claim was as bold as it was odd.
He later turned to religion. Trump promised to fight “anti-Christian bias” and pointed to the Pledge of Allegiance as proof that America was built on God. That line drew stronger cheers than anything else.
Before closing, Trump announced that Carson would receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Carson smiled while the room applauded, though the honor came only after Trump had spent most of the evening talking about Biden.
