Trump fired off another reckless post late at night on Truth Social, threatening Iran after deadly protests broke out in the country.
“If Iran shots and violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue. We are locked and loaded and ready to go. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he wrote.
Iran has been hit by widespread protests after six people were reported dead, according to Fox News. People are demanding an end to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s 36-year rule.

The demonstrations started in Tehran on Sunday. Shopkeepers were upset about the falling value of the Iranian currency. By Tuesday, students from at least ten universities joined in, and protests spread to other cities, Al Jazeera reported.
These are the largest protests since 2022, when Mahsa Amini died in police custody after being accused of not wearing her veil correctly. This time, the unrest is mostly about economic problems and has not reached the same scale, the BBC said.
President Trump has a long history with Iran. In June, he said his administration had “completely and totally obliterated” Iran’s nuclear program through targeted strikes.
However, the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog later said the attacks only slowed uranium enrichment for a few months, not years. Iran says its nuclear program is peaceful, though it had been enriching uranium beyond what it needed for domestic power. Investigators did not find evidence that Iran was close to making a nuclear bomb when Trump ordered the strikes.
Since then, the U.S. has tried to make a deal with Iran on its nuclear program, but those efforts failed.
On Tuesday, during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said he learned Iran might be rebuilding its nuclear program.
“If they are, we’re going to have to knock them down,” Trump told reporters, according to ABC News. “We’ll knock the hell out of them.”
Trump often talks about being a peacemaker. He claims he ended or prevented eight wars, including a ceasefire in Gaza. But his record shows something else. He has ordered strikes on Iran and Venezuela, authorized deadly attacks on small vessels in the Caribbean and Pacific, and says he killed Islamic terrorists in Nigeria.
