“It’s cold outside- whatever happened to global warming?” is a very familiar dumb-guy statement, and it’s one Donald Trump has long been fond of. He’s used various versions of that argument, going back to before he was president:
In the beautiful Midwest, windchill temperatures are reaching minus 60 degrees, the coldest ever recorded. In coming days, expected to get even colder. People can’t last outside even for minutes. What the hell is going on with Global Waming? Please come back fast, we need you!

In the East, it could be the COLDEST New Year’s Eve on record. Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against. Bundle up!

In fact, as a Reddit user pointed out ten years ago, Trump had at that point posted versions of this at least 50 times.
On Friday, ahead of what’s expected to be a major winter storm, Trump did it again, this time on Truth Social:
The post comes just weeks after Trump withdrew the U.S. from the Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), as well as several other international groups.
As has been pointed out numerous times, especially when Trump has made this argument, the existence of climate change does not mean that it will never be cold, now does chaotic winter weather disprove the existence of climate change.
Ironically, as the New York Times reported earlier this month, climate change helped make Trump’s Greenland obsession possible.
“Greenland is warming much faster than the global average, and its expansive ice sheet has been shrinking for decades,” the Times report said. “These shifts, driven by climate change, have made the vast island a more appealing acquisition target for the Trump administration.”
