During his news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Donald Trump used every flowery word in the book. He was trying to convince his audience that tearing Palestinians away from their homes and sending them to live abroad was a good idea.
Then, demonstrating his complete lack of class, he told a female reporter from Afghanistan that he couldn’t answer her question because he could not understand her accent. I wonder how many presidents have used that line before? I don’t know, maybe none?
The reporter’s question was straightforward, Raw Story reports. Maybe that’s why Trump was having trouble understanding her.
“You have any plan to change Afghanistan’s situation? Are you able to recognize Taliban?” the reporter asked him. “Because I’m an Afghan journalist … any comment about Afghanistan, what’s your future plan for the Afghan people?”

“I’m having a little hard time understanding you,” said Trump. “Where are you from?”
“Afghanistan,” she said, as some of her fellow journalists in the press pool echoed her words.
“Actually, it’s a beautiful voice and a beautiful accent. The only problem is I can’t understand a word you’re saying. But, but I just say this. Good luck. Live in peace.”
Trump has tended to blame former President Joe Biden for the resurgence of the Taliban, even though Trump himself negotiated for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the region during the end of his term. As The Conversation notes, this is something he does regularly.
The Taliban plundered Afghanistan in the wake of 9/11 after two decades of U.S. occupation in the hopes of rebuilding the country’s government into a functioning democracy. This terrorist group has gotten right down to business, bringing back its old theocratic policies and sending women back to the Dark Ages, denying them several rights, including a full education, and also denying them the right to drive.
Too bad we can’t send Trump to Afghanistan. With his misogynistic views, he’d fit right in.
I’m including a clip of the interaction below.
Reporter: You have any plan to change Afghanistan's situation? Are you able to recognize Taliban?
Trump: It’s a beautiful voice and a beautiful accent. The only problem is I can't understand a word you're saying, but. But I just say this. Good luck. Live in peace. pic.twitter.com/lWyq4fuplm
