Donald Trump has long claimed that he wants to avoid getting involved in prolonged foreign wars, while much of the MAGA faithful has gone along with him on that. Now, with a confrontation looming with Iran, those assumptions are being tested- along with reports that some members of the administration aren’t quite on board with attacking Iran.

Per some reports, including The Hill, Gen. Dan Caine, the chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is among those at odds with the president. But Trump strongly denied that in a Truth Social post earlier this week.

“Numerous stories from the Fake News Media have been circulating stating that General Daniel Caine, sometimes referred to as Razin, is against us going to War with Iran. The story does not attribute this vast wealth of knowledge to anyone, and is 100 percent incorrect,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“He knows Iran well in that he was in charge of Midnight Hammer, the attack on the Iranian Nuclear Development,” Trump added. “It is a Development no longer, but rather, was blown to smithereens by our Great B-2 Bombers. Razin Caine is a Great Fighter and represents the Most Powerful Military anywhere in the World. He has not spoken of not doing Iran, or even the fake limited strikes that I have been reading about, he only knows one thing, how to WIN and, if he is told to do so, he will be leading the pack.”

Axios had reported, earlier, that Caine “has been advising President Trump and top officials that a military campaign against Iran could carry significant risks, in particular the possibility of becoming entangled in a prolonged conflict, according to two sources with knowledge of those internal discussions.”

Citing two sources, Axios reported that “while Caine was all-in on the Venezuela operation, he has been more cautious in the discussions around Iran.”

The Axios story added that Trump’s diplomatic envoys, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, are among those urging the president to hold off on. military attack and let diplomacy take its course.
