Laura Loomer, it appears, has been Loomered from former President Donald Trump's traveling party.

Laura Loomer’s time in former President Donald Trump’s close orbit has ended, at least for now.

According to a Washington Post report Monday about a lack of discipline that appears to have struck the Trump campaign in recent weeks, Trump has been seeking to distance himself from Loomer, the controversial political gadfly and conspiracy theorist who has made a long list of racist statements.

After Loomer was spotted on Trump’s plane, heading to the presidential debate in Philadelphia and at 9/11 commemoration events in New York the following day, Loomer became “a source of much frustration within Trump’s orbit,” the Post reported.

According to the report, “some outside advisers and donors called Trump to express their concern that her unofficial role is detrimental to the campaign.” And while Trump went on to halfheartedly distance himself from Loomer, the ex-president reportedly told those around him that Loomer is “crazy,” and he “promised advisers he would not regularly invite her to travel with him on his plane.”

Loomer has never had any official role in Trump’s campaign or any other Trump-related entity. In 2023, Trump reportedly wanted to hire her for the campaign but was talked out of it by other aides.

Loomer has seemingly reacted by ripping not Trump, but rather the Republican Party:

That said, advisers’ estrangements from Trump World tend to be temporary. Corey Lewandowski, who was fired from Trump’s 2016 campaign and later banished altogether after he was accused of drunkenly groping the wife of a donor, is now back working in a high position with Trump’s campaign.

Last week, longtime Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, whose daughter Claudia has feuded with Loomer, said in an interview that she is not in favor of Loomer traveling with Trump (Conway does not work for the current Trump campaign):

As the Post presents the story, the Trump campaign was much more disciplined throughout the primary season and the early general election campaign, but that this has changed in recent months, with Trump decisions such as traveling with Loomer, bringing Lewandowski back into the fold, pushing debunked claims about immigrants in Ohio eating dogs and cats, and declaring on social media that “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.”

The Swift shot, per the story, was “especially concerning to Trump’s advisers, who are worried about attracting female voters.”

“Two failed apparent assassination attempts, as well as additional threats against him, have also left the freewheeling president constrained by a mushrooming security presence and has made staging campaign events more challenging,” the Post story said.
