Donald Trump’s legal gamble has taken a sharp and unexpected turn.
The 79-year-old president is now facing a stunning demand that could force him to reveal deeply private details about his health and mental condition.
Trump filed the case in 2022, accusing the Pulitzer Prize Board of spreading false claims about his alleged ties to Russia. He argued that journalists were rewarded for what he called a fabricated story designed to hurt him politically.
But now, the board is fighting back — and hitting where it hurts.
In newly submitted legal filings, the Pulitzer board has demanded that Trump turn over his medical and psychological records. The request also includes his prescription drug history.

According to court documents, Trump has 30 days to comply.
This marks a major shift in the case. Instead of focusing only on journalism standards, the lawsuit has opened the door to Trump’s personal life, finances, and physical condition.
The board’s lawyers are not stopping at health records.
They are also demanding years of Trump’s tax returns, along with documents showing his income sources, assets, debts, and overall financial standing dating back to 2015.
In short, they want the full picture.
The demand was filed in a Florida court and follows Trump’s failed attempt to have Pulitzer Prizes awarded to The New York Times and The Washington Post revoked.
Those prizes were given for reporting on Russian interference in the 2016 election.
After reviewing the coverage, the Pulitzer board concluded that the reporting was sound and could not be discredited.
That ruling dealt a serious blow to Trump’s claims.
Over the past year, Trump has faced growing public questions about his health. He has appeared with visible bandages on his hand, looked fatigued during speeches, and at times seemed to lose his train of thought.
He has also been seen apparently nodding off during meetings.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has repeatedly been forced to explain away concerns, insisting the president is fit and fully capable of leading.
Trump himself has been defiant.
He regularly claims he is in excellent physical and mental condition. He often brags about passing cognitive tests and dismisses critics as dishonest or politically motivated.
Just last week, he went even further, suggesting that questioning his mental fitness could amount to “treason” or “sedition.”
Despite those bold claims, the new legal demand puts Trump in a difficult position.
Handing over the records could expose details he has long kept private. Refusing to comply could deepen his legal troubles.
