Last week, the U.S. and Israel launched deadly strikes across Iran after talks with Tehran broke down.
Iran refused to stop enriching uranium, prompting a rapid military response. The attacks reportedly killed Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, six U.S. service members, and more than 1,100 civilians, according to the Human Rights Activists News Agency.
The strikes have put Trump under increasing pressure. His impeachment odds have surged to record levels.
Kalshi shows a 67% chance he will be impeached before the end of his term, up from 62% just a month ago. Polymarket shows slightly lower odds for this year alone, but the trend is clear. Traders now see serious legal risk building around Trump.
The path to impeachment is complicated. Republicans control both the House and Senate. Most GOP lawmakers are still loyal to Trump. Democrats have not confirmed if they will launch a new impeachment effort. Even if they win the House in the midterms, securing enough votes in the Senate would still be almost impossible.

The White House defended Trump’s actions. A spokesperson said, “President Trump is taking action to eliminate major national security threats which past Presidents have only talked about for 47 years, but only this President had the courage to accomplish.”
Trump is no stranger to impeachment. He was impeached twice in his first term. The first was over Ukraine. The second came after the January 6 Capitol attack. Both times, he was acquitted in the Senate.
In his second term, impeachment efforts are already facing challenges. In December 2025, Rep. Al Green introduced articles accusing Trump of abusing presidential power, including calls for executing members of Congress. Many Democrats voted “present,” blaming Republicans for ignoring Trump’s extreme actions instead of holding him accountable.
Supporters of impeachment are speaking out.
Matt Stoller, a researcher at the American Economic Liberties Project, wrote on X, “The President can’t just launch a war. This attack has crossed every line. It’s unconstitutional. Just impeach Trump already.”
The President can’t just launch a war. There are some grey lines around force but this attack has crossed every one of them. It’s unconstitutional and a high crime or misdemeanor. Just impeach Trump already.

Kat Abughazaleh, running for Congress in Illinois, added on Bluesky, “Trump partnered with another authoritarian to declare an unprovoked war. Congress needs to act immediately on a War Powers Resolution. Then impeachment.”
The morally bankrupt Trump administration has partnered with another morally bankrupt authoritarian to declare an unprovoked war on Iran, already killing scores of civilians.
We need an immediate vote from Congress on a War Powers Resolution. Then articles of impeachment.

Even Trump has acknowledged the threat. In January, he said, “But you gotta win the midterms, because if we don’t win the midterms… they’ll find a reason to impeach me. I’ll get impeached.”
Trump says he will be impeached if he loses the midterms.

Some Republicans also see the danger. House Speaker Mike Johnson said in December, “If we lose the House majority, the radical left is going to impeach President Trump. They’re going to create absolute chaos. We cannot let that happen.”
