Donald Trump’s polling numbers have been bad for a while, with his approval rating in negative territory ever since the opening weeks of his second presidency. But now, those numbers have reached a sad milestone.
According to Newsweek, Trump has now gone into negative territory in every poll that’s included in the New York Times’ polling aggregator, for the first time in his second term. That aggregator now lists the president with 55 percent disapproval and 41 percent approval, on average throughout the polls.
That’s a spread of -14, which is not the worst of Trump’s presidency according to the polling aggregator, but is near a low. Of the 16 polls listed, all have Trump underwater, although Insider Advantage and Big Data Poll have Trump at -5, while American Research Group sees the spread at -27.
“A new poll by J.L. Partners, conducted between November 19 and 20 on 1,244 registered voters, found that 49 percent disapproved of Trump, while 41 percent approved. The poll had a margin of error of +/- 3.2 percent. The pollster’s previous poll, conducted in mid-October, showed Trump with a 46 percent approval rating,” Newsweek said.

“After remaining largely stable in July and August, President Trump’s approval ratings have been declining since mid-September. More voters think the Trump administration’s policies have hurt the economy than helped it, according to the latest Fox News poll, which found that 38 percent of voters approve of how Trump is handling the economy while 61 percent disapprove,” the Times’ staff editor for polling, Ruth Igielnik, wrote Wednesday.

Trump, for his part, has continued to insist that his approval ratings are good, while usually not citing any such polls. Meanwhile, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told the Daily Mail this week that Trump has “already delivered on many of the promises he was elected to enact, but there will always be more to accomplish.”

The RealClearPolling average continues to show a similar story, with Trump in double-digit negative territory for the last several months. As of Wednesday, Trump is showing an average disapproval rating of 54.8 percent and an approval rating of 43.1 percent.
In RCP, as well, every single poll listed in the average is negative for Trump, although it includes some of the same polls as the Times average.
