Donald Trump was handed a rather brutal ruling from a federal judge today that banned him from speaking in his own defense in court in his blockbuster New York civil fraud trial, effectively muzzling the former president.
Daily Mail confirmed the breaking news in a new report: “An attorney for Trump informed Judge Arthur Engoron earlier this week that the former president wished to speak during the closing arguments, and the judge approved the plan, according to sources.”
“Now a federal judge has rescinded the move, even though Trump is still expected to appear.”
The 77-year-old former president and 2024 presidential contender is the defendant in a sprawling civil fraud case brought against him, his children, and his family business by New York Attorney General Letitia James, alleging that Trump, his kids, and his company over and underinflated their assets and holdings in an effort to obtain more favorable bank loans, insurance, and tax breaks.

James has infamously gone no holds barred against the former president, taking aim at not only Donald’s money, to the tune of a staggering $370 million, but also his livelihood and reputation, as she has called on the judge presiding over the case to ban the ex-president from ever conducting business in the state of New York again — effectively putting Donald Trump’s entire empire on the line.
Trump had indicated that he hoped to be able to stand before the judge and the court and tell his side of the story. However, the federal judge on the case disallowed this.
