News broke early this week that approximately 10 documents bearing classified markings were allegedly discovered at the president’s old office in Pennsylvania. President Biden chose transparency and directly addressed this development during a North American Leaders’ Summit in Mexico, where the US President stated matter-of-factly, “People know I take classified information seriously.”
President Biden went on to explain that back in November 2022, his attorneys were cleaning out his old office at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy & Global Engagement, where they eventually and unexpectedly discovered documents bearing classified markings. Biden worked at the University of Pennsylvania center from 2017 to 2019.
The president went on to add that he does not know the nature of the information contained in the discovered documents and has been advised by his legal team not to ask.
The incident is being reviewed by both the US Justice Department and the National Archives and Records Administration, with Attorney General Merrick Garland assigning a US attorney to look into the matter and determine whether a full investigation is ultimately warranted into the situation, according to reporting from CBS News.

Biden has, as expected, handled this situation with an air of grace, transparency, understanding, and cooperation that’s been refreshing, in comparison to his predecessor, to say the very least.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump is, also as expected, screeching at the top of his lungs.
In an absolutely unhinged tirade on his struggling Truth Social platform, the scandal-ridden, disgraced ex-president called on the FBI to raid President Joe Biden’s “many homes” after the news of the handful of allegedly classified documents broke.
“When is the FBI going to raid the many homes of Joe Biden, perhaps even the White House?” the washed-up former guy raged in a Truth Social post.
Trump went on to share an ignorant, albeit pointed question posed on Truth Social by his former White House doctor turned House Rep. Ronny Jackson: “Did Biden try to conceal these documents before the midterms? How long did the federal government KNOW these documents were hidden? WHY are we just hearing about this now?”
Trump, of course, infamously stole boxes upon boxes of classified documents and materials from the White House, upon the tumultuous end of his presidential term, and effectively hid them at his Mar-a-Lago resort turned post-presidency personal residence — a heated scandal that he remains under investigation over by the Department of Justice.
It comes as no real surprise that, as the news breaks of the measly 10 classified documents found at Biden’s old office, Trump is desperately and pathetically trying to draw a comparison between the two. However, multiple experts have confirmed that the two cases draw very few, if any, parallels.
The FBI was forced to enact a search warrant at Trump’s Palm Beach compound because he repeatedly lied about his possession of the materials and refused, over and over again, to return them to NARA, despite multiple efforts from various federal government entities over the course of a literal year. Ultimately, Garland’s DOJ was literally left with no choice but to move in on the 45th president, if they had any hope at all to recover the highly-classified, top-secret documents.
In Biden’s case, on the other hand, the materials were immediately turned over as soon as they were located, without question, according to a statement from the president’s special counsel Richard Sauber.
