The New York Times broke reporting that the Manhattan grand jury has officially voted in favor of formally indicting former United States President Donald J. Trump on criminal charges related to the infamous Stormy Daniels hush money payments.

A Manhattan grand jury voted to indict Donald J. Trump on Thursday for his role in paying hush money to a porn star, according to four people with knowledge of the matter, a historic development that will shake up the 2024 presidential race and forever mark him as the nation’s first former president to face criminal charges.
The felony indictment, filed under seal by the Manhattan district attorney’s office, will likely be announced in the coming days. By then, prosecutors working for the district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, will have asked Mr. Trump to surrender and to face arraignment on charges that remain unknown for now.”
This bombshell development in the long-running Manhattan case against Donald Trump serves as the first time in United States history that criminal charges have been lodged against a sitting or former US president.
These charges stem from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s extensive investigation into a $130,000 hush money payment made to adult film star and former Trump affair partner Stormy Daniels, by Donald Trump’s former personal attorney and self-described “fixer,” Michael Cohen, just weeks before the 2016 presidential election that Donald Trump would go on to win.

Cohen has repeatedly testified to prosecutors, investigators, and jurors that he was specifically and personally instructed by then-presidential candidate Donald Trump to make the 6-figure payment to Daniels, in exchange for her silence about their sexual affair and relationship in the lead up to the election, as Trump was concerned that, should the scandal get out to the public, it would harm his chances of victory in the presidential election. Cohen testified that Trump promised to reimburse him for the $130,000 payment.
In recent weeks, the ex-president has all but goaded his followers as he made a complete and utter spectacle out of the indictment that, in my opinion, he never believed would actually happen. But, despite the big guy’s dramatic declarations about his impending arrest, now that the arrest is actually impending, scandal-ridden and newly-indicted former President Donald Trump is melting down into a fit of unhinged panic, fear, and unadulterated anger.
First to come on his Truth Social platform was an image of his official “Statement by Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States of America…”
But he didn’t stop there.
The former president followed up that “official” statement with a truly, deeply unhinged post, with the caps lock button fully engaged, railing against the grand jury’s decision and America as a whole, writing, “These Thugs and Radical Left Monsters have just INDICATED the 45th President of the United States of America, and the leading Republican Candidate, by far, for the 2024 Nomination for President. THIS IS AN ATTACK ON OUR COUNTRY THE LIKES OF WHICH HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE. IT IS LIKEWISE A CONTINUING ATTACK ON OUR ONCE FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS. THE USA IS NOW A THIRD WORLD NATION, A NATION IN SERIOUS DECLINE. SO SAD!”
