The annual Golden Globe Awards, held on Sunday night, were mostly light on political opinions from the assembled entertainers, aside from host Nikki Glaser making light of the recent CBS News controversies, and presenter Wanda Sykes taking some shots at past anti-trans comments from Ricky Gervais, who ended up winning an award for his stand-up special.

Several attendees of the awards wore buttons that said “Be Good,” in reference to the killing in Minneapolis last week of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent. And as is often the case when celebrities express any opinion at all, they were attacked by the right. This time, the charge was led by the president’s son, Donald Trump, Jr., who shared a Page Six post on X, along with commentary, “These clowns are just upset that my father closed Biden’s open border so millions of illegals can no longer flood into our nation. Notice, none of them ever said a word about Laken Riley being violently murdered by one of their beloved illegals!”

It was the usual right-wing anger at celebrities, which amounts to “you’re about this thing? What about this other, unrelated thing?”

Ironically, the Golden Globes on Sunday had a controversial partnership with prediction market app Polymarket, which showed odds for certain categories to win throughout the night. And Polymarket received investment last year from a fund backed by Donald Trump, Jr.

There were some amused reactions to the post by the president’s oldest son.
