In case you thought disgraced former President Donald Trump was somehow beginning to get over some of his pettiness and ridiculous grudges now that he’s spent a good, long few months out of the power of the White House, might I suggest you take a moment to think again. Because the truth of the matter is, the man is just as petty and ridiculous as he’s ever been.
Trump proved as much today when he announced his “coveted” endorsement of Republican Representative Mo Brooks, only to turn and use the opportunity just to attack Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell — ultimately unveiling a nasty new nickname for the Kentucky GOP senator.
“I see that the RINO Senator from Alabama, close friend of Old Crow Mitch McConnell, Richard Shelby, is pushing hard to have his ‘assistant’ fight the great Mo Brooks for his Senate seat,” Trump said in his statement announcing his Brooks endorsement, speaking of Republican Senate hopeful Katie Britt.
“I see that the RINO Sen from Ala, close friend of Old Crow Mitch McConnell, Richard Shelby, is pushing hard to have his “assistant” fight the great Mo Brooks for his Senate seat. She is not in any way qualified and is certainly not what our Country needs…Vote for Mo Brooks!” pic.twitter.com/NFkcTVecwy

“She is not in any way qualified and is certainly not what our Country needs or not what Alabama wants,” he went on to argue.
“For Mitch McConnell to be wasting money on her campaign is absolutely outrageous. Vote for Mo Brooks! He stands for America First, and everything Alabama wants. He also has my Complete and Total Endorsement,” the former guy fumed.
Despite the clout he believes his endorsements carry, Trump lost his ass in the 2017 special election in Alabama — not once, but twice. His first loss came from his endorsement for interim Sen. Luther Strange in the GOP. Strange lost the primary to Roy Moore, who Trump then also endorsed, only for Moore to lose in the general election even with Donald Trump’s support.
The ex-president’s endorsement of Mo Brooks came on the heels of accusations against Brooks of sedition and inciting violence during his CPAC speech.
Rep. Mo Brooks at CPAC:
“Our choice is simple: we can surrender and submit, or we can fight back… Think for a moment about our ancestors who fought at Valley Forge… that’s the kind of sacrifice we have to think about, and I ask you: are you willing to fight for America?” pic.twitter.com/IkqEbCOApm
