If there’s anything that Donald J. Trump is truly good at in this world, it’s digging his already deep hole that much deeper for himself. Frankly, he proved this beyond a shadow of a doubt just by turning a $5 million civil sexual assault loss into an $83.3 million civil defamation loss simply because he couldn’t keep his damn mouth shut.
That mouth of his came back around to bite him once again when he took his 6-foot-deep January 6th hole and dug it straight down into the pits of Hell.
Trump made public remarks this morning from his Palm Beach Mar-a-Lago golf resort turned post-White House personal home on the infamous ballot ban case against him in the Supreme Court.
But, as is customary with this guy, he couldn’t stick to the script and leave well enough alone, ultimately, albeit inadvertently, hand-delivering a smoking gun straight to DOJ-appointed Special Counsel Jack Smith in his raging January 6th case against the scandal-plagued former president.

Speaking to the crowd and reporters, Trump said:
And the one thing I’ll say is they kept saying about what I said right after the insurrection. The insurrection caused by Nancy Pelosi.”

Of course, Trump’s attempt to blame the deadly Capitol violence on now-former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is nothing new. (When he’s not confusing her with Nikki Haley, anyway.) But that’s not the part that Jack Smith is going to take an interest in.
The former president has long been asserting that what took place at the Capitol on January 6th, 2021, was not an “insurrection,” but rather a peaceful protest.
As recently as December of 2023, Trump was making this “not an insurrection” assertion.
Yet not, just barely a month later, Trump just told the whole entire world, Jack Smith included, that it was an insurrection at the Capitol — he just wants everyone to think it’s not his fault.
That’s a smoking gun, if ever there were one, and Donald just placed it right in the Special Counsel’s lap.
