Trump Offers Cryptic Explanation Behind His Call To Evacuate Tehran

His reasoning is unclear, as usual

On Monday, President Donald Trump warned millions of people in Tehran to get out immediately.

His exact words on Truth Social were, “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran.” The post came just hours after Israel launched heavy strikes inside Iran, and it quickly caused concern around the world.

Trump followed up the next day with a short explanation. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, he said, “I just want people to be safe.”

But the post showed something more than just concern. It also revealed Trump’s anger at Iran. He added, “Iran should have signed the deal I told them to sign. What a shame and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again!”

Even some in his own team seem to disagree. Back in March, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard told Congress that U.S. intelligence did not believe Iran was building a nuclear weapon.

When reporters reminded Trump of that, his response was sharp. “I don’t care what she said,” he replied. “I think they were very close to having them.”

This moment marked a clear shift. Just days earlier, Trump had suggested that Iran might still return to the negotiating table. But after Israel’s strikes and Iran’s retaliation, his tone changed.

Trump now says he wants “a real end, not a ceasefire,” as he told reporters.

He also explained why he left the G7 summit in Canada one day early. French President Emmanuel Macron had said Trump was leaving to help negotiate peace. Trump quickly pushed back.

“He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire,” Trump wrote. “Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay Tuned!”

The war between Israel and Iran is now in its fourth day. It began when Israel launched a surprise attack on Iran’s missile and nuclear sites, killing top commanders. Iran responded with drones and missiles.

Trump said the United States was not involved in the first attack. But he confirmed that U.S. forces helped shoot down some of Iran’s missiles in the hours that followed.

When asked if the U.S. military would become more involved, Trump refused to answer. “I don’t want to talk about that,” he said.

He did say he might send Vice President JD Vance and Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff to speak with Iranian leaders, but only after he is fully briefed in person.

“I don’t believe in telephones,” Trump said. “Being on the scene is much better.”
