The conspiracy era keeps growing

On Sunday night, between posting AI footage of US warships and images of himself at a Space Force console overlooking Earth, Donald Trump also shared, with no caption or context, a photograph of himself escorting a shackled alien at a military base.

The image shows Trump flanked by security personnel, walking alongside a tall gray humanoid figure shackled at the wrists and ankles at what appears to be a military site.

The two additional Space Force posts showed Trump seated at a futuristic command center with a red button in front of him and a screen behind him reading “Target destroyed.”

The alien post arrived with the internet already primed for conspiracy theories.

The administration has established what it calls the “Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters,” a centralized effort to organize and publish historical government records on UFO sightings.

The initial release includes 161 declassified documents dating back to 1947, internal FBI correspondence and military video footage of unidentified objects. Trump wrote on Truth Social as the files went live: “Whereas previous administrations have failed to be transparent on this subject, with these new Documents and Videos, the people can decide for themselves, ‘WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?’ Have Fun and Enjoy!”

Nine days later, the handcuffed alien photo appeared online. That is where the internet completely split into factions.

Eric Weinstein, an investor and mathematician, took a longer view on X: “What do I believe? That we are here clowning around without full and totally uncontested control of our own National Defense-critical military airspace.”

Lara Trump added her own layer to the intrigue, saying publicly that Trump has a speech prepared on extraterrestrial life and is waiting for the right time to deliver it. “I’ve heard kind of around, I think my father-in-law has actually said it, that there is some speech that he has, that I guess at the right time, I don’t know when the right time is, he’s going to break out,” she said.

The right time, based on Sunday’s posting activity, may or may not involve a handcuffed alien as a visual aid.

A YouGov poll from November 2025 found that 56% of Americans believe aliens definitely or probably exist, and 47% believe they have probably already visited Earth.
