The long-awaited 2024 solar eclipse is upon us and Trump is using it as an opportunity to remind the world that he’s solely responsible for plunging the United States of America into darkness.
This afternoon, the United States will see the first total solar eclipse — where the moon fully covers the sun for a brief period of time — since the infamous 2017 eclipse, 7 years ago.
In an effort to capitalize on the marvelous event, the scandal-plagued former president took to his Truth Social account last night with a solar eclipse-themed campaign ad — in which a silhouette of Donald Trump’s big, fat head acts as the moon, covering the sun and plunging the country into darkness, much like he’s done in reality since 2016.
The video begins with an image of a blazing sun with the words “the most important moment in human history is taking place in 2024,” all while Trump’s trademarked highly-dramatic soundtrack booms in the background.
The video cuts to a montage of clips of large crowds gathering to watch the phenomenon, staring up at the sky, all decked out in protective eclipse glasses.

The video begins to cut between the awe-stricken crowds and an image of a bright sun against a dark backdrop as a huge shadow silhouette begins to move into the frame. But there’s a twist!
The silhouette in Trump’s video isn’t the moon, but rather a shadow image of Donnie’s fat head — complete with obnoxiously bushy eyebrows, and overexaggerated hairline (that Trump most certainly does not enjoy in real life), his notorious pooched-out lips, and a long neck.
As his head comes to center over the entirety of the sun, this phrase dramatically flashes across the screen: “We will save America. And make it great again.”
See it for yourself:
As you can imagine, I’m sure, people had a lot of thoughts over Donald’s new eclipse-themed campaign ad, including the underlying message that Trump is plunging the whole country into darkness:
Ah. So Trump getting “in front” of Biden will plunge America into darkness? (You know. Just like an eclipse)
You also forgot to include the next frame, you know, the one where the sun reemerges. Eclipses are temporary. Like Trump.
This meme isn’t the own you think it is.

Trump might be more self-aware than we’ve given him credit.
Trump posted a picture of his giant empty head eclipsing the sun and plunging the US into darkness.
And like #Eclipse2024, the Trump eclipse is just temporary. Vote BLUE in ’24!#DemsUnited #ProudBlue #wtpBLUE pic.twitter.com/wCJrF92CpK— Alesha (@aleshadalin) April 8, 2024
Two large, extremely harmful if one gets too close, orange objects, come together to create one big empty black void, that leave people who stare at it, in the dark. Who knew!

The guy who stared at an eclipse uses an image of his head causing an eclipse? Well we HAVE heard his lasting a few seconds. But bringing darkness? Are evangelicals OK with the apocalyptic ‘sun to darkness’ imagery associated with the end of the world?

Of course, this weird eclipse-themed campaign ad is brought to you by the same guy who stared *directly* into the sun the last time we saw one of these. So, do with that what you will.
