Trump Posts Unhinged Truth Social Rant Pressuring Pam Bondi To Prosecute His Enemies After U.S. Attorney Walks Out

The president seemed to complain to his own attorney general about the lack of prosecutions of his political enemies.

Erik Seibert, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, resigned this week under pressure from the White House after he refused to bring criminal charges against New York Attorney General Letitia James, who sued Trump and the Trump Organization during his time out of office. Seibert is a Republican, but Trump had objected to his nomination being approved by the two Democratic home state U.S. senators, Tim Kaine and Mark Warner.

It is highly irregular for U.S. presidents to demand the prosecution of specific individuals or to fire prosecutors who refuse, but Trump is doing so openly. And that continued with some Truth Social posts on Saturday, both seemingly addressed to Attorney General Pam Bondi:

In the first post, Trump invoked “over 30 statements and posts saying that, essentially, “same old story as last time, all talk, no action. Nothing is being done. What about Comey, Adam “Shifty” Schiff, Leticia??? They’re all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done.” He went on to praise Lindsey Halligan, who was formerly his personal lawyer.

In the next post, Trump praised Bondi, stating that she was “doing a GREAT job as Attorney General of the United States. She is very careful, very smart, loves our Country,” before declaring that the Eastern District of Virginia “needs a tough prosecutor in the Eastern District of Virginia, like my recommendation, Lindsey Halligan, to get things moving.”

“I will be nominating Lindsey Halligan to be the United States Attorney in this very important part of our Great Country. She will be Fair, Smart, and will provide, desperately needed, JUSTICE FOR ALL!,” the president declared.

The reactions to these declarations were very critical of Trump’s conduct:
