President Donald Trump hasn’t stopped taking shots at his immediate predecessor and former opponent, Joe Biden.

The latest came in an interview Trump conducted with the conservative media outlet The Daily Caller over the weekend. This was during the days when there were rumors that Trump was sick or dead, and while those were not true, Trump did joke about his immediate predecessor as president being sick or dead.

The interview, which wasn’t exactly hard-hitting, turned to Trump bragging about his White House renovations to Daily Caller reporter Reagan Reese:

TRUMP: I’m [fixing] up a lot of things. We’re right now building —

[TRUMP shows REESE the presidential portraits for the Rose Garden.]

REESE: I love the frames, I love the gold. [Reese references the portraits being shown.]

TRUMP: Is that unbelievable?

REESE: It’s very beautiful.

TRUMP: So that was done for very high end paintings. I’m looking at frames and saying ‘what about that one?’

Then, Reese asked if a portrait of Biden would be making an appearance, and the president replied not only by lying about the 2020 election, but in mocking Biden’s cancer diagnosis.

TRUMP: And I’ll listen to you too, because it’s a decision I have to make. We put up a picture of the autopen.

REESE: Oh, that’s hilarious.

TRUMP: He didn’t win the race. He lost badly. He was a horrible president, but can you imagine, he says he has Stage Nine cancer. That was, what? Two, three months ago… Stage Nine. I’ve never heard of more than stage four. Stage four is the highest. I’ve never — if you’re stage four, you’re dead …  especially Stage Nine. Is there such a thing?”

“The Autopen” comes from a conspiracy theory that Biden, not of sound mind during his presidency, had used an autopen for his pardons and other presidential actions, which therefore do not count and are not lawful. Biden, of course, did not “lose the race” in 2020, nor has the former president claimed to suffer from “Stage Nine cancer.”

Biden announced earlier this year that he had been diagnosed with Stage Four prostate cancer, which is the most advanced stage. However, while Stage Four cancer is serious, having it does not mean that a person is “dead.”

Trump seems to be implying that Biden is not being honest about having cancer, or perhaps that it’s somehow odd months after announcing advanced cancer, that he remains alive.
