There isn’t much that Donald Trump can do anymore to shock with a social media post, but he managed it on Sunday night. Just hours after taking shots at Pope Leo XIV, the president posted a picture of himself as Jesus Christ, seeming to heal a man who appeared to be on his deathbed.
The post drew rebukes from the types of people who don’t typically criticize Trump.
As The Daily Beast described it, “President Donald Trump followed a bizarre rant against Pope Leo XIV with an AI-generated image depicting himself as Jesus Christ. The image, posted to Truth Social late Sunday night, depicts Trump as Christ, laying his hand on a patient in a hospital bed, seemingly healing him.”
The post was later deleted.

Some MAGA apostates, like former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, were quick to jump on the president for posting this.
On Orthodox Easter, President Trump attacked the Pope because the Pope is rightly against Trump’s war in Iran and then he posted this picture of himself as if he is replacing Jesus.

But the post was also denounced by some people who remain Trump loyalists.
Oh hell no. We tolerated this kind of meme against our better judgment because he promised to save America and only when it was clear he didn’t actually think he was the Messiah. Why do I feel like Paula White did this to him, and to us? Pray for his soul. Pray for us all 😔 pic.twitter.com/aVWGiqogtM

Why? Seriously, I cannot understand why he’d post this. Is he looking for a response? Does he actually think this?
Either way, two things are true.
1) a little humility would serve him well
2) God shall not be mocked https://t.co/GViHqWeDEr— Riley Gaines (@Riley_Gaines_) April 13, 2026
I assume someone has already told him, but it behooves the President both spiritually and politically to delete the picture, no matter the intent.
