The Dow Jones dropped more than a thousand points on Thursday and Friday following the imposition of massive new tariffs scheduled to go into effect on April 9. After that, Trump headed to Florida, where a Saudi-backed LIV Golf Tour tournament was to take place at one of his golf clubs.

Then, on Sunday, aboard Air Force One, Trump declared that he had “won” the golf tournament.

Per The Daily Beast, Trump declared that he had “won” the Senior Club Championship at Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter. This is not to be confused with the LIV Golf professional tournament this weekend at Trump National Doral in a different part of South Florida.

“It was very good, because I won,” Trump said on Air Force One. “It’s good to win. You heard I won, right?”

In that interview, Trump also bragged about his golf handicap, although he didn’t reveal it.

It appears Trump visited three golf courses throughout the long weekend, all in Florida.

The president had been heavily criticized for attending the golf events rather than attending the arrival of the bodies of U.S. servicemen who were killed last month in a training exercise in Lithuania.

An entire book about Trump’s history with golf, including cheating at it, Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump, by former Sports Illustrated writer Rick Reilly, was published back in 2019.
