President Donald Trump reportedly wants his daughter to take on a strange new White House role, even though she once promised she was done with politics.
Ivanka Trump has mostly stayed out of her father’s political world since he won a second term last November. She has avoided the constant attention that comes with being close to him in the public eye. For months, she has focused on her family and kept her distance from his political plans.
But UFC CEO Dana White says Trump wants Ivanka to take part in an unusual event. He says the president wants her at the center of a cage fight on the White House lawn.
“When [Trump] called me and asked me to do it, he said, ‘I want Ivanka in the middle of this,’” White told CBS Mornings. “So Ivanka reached out to me, and her and I started talking about the possibilities, where it would be and, you know, I put together all the renderings.”

Ivanka has not made any public statement about the idea. However, she has been seen sitting cage-side with her father at several UFC fights in the past. That history makes her potential involvement in this plan less surprising to those who have followed her.
White’s connection to Trump goes back decades. In the early 2000s, Trump hosted some of the first UFC events at his private properties. The two men have stayed close friends ever since.
According to White, he and Trump spoke on Monday night about the upcoming fight. He confirmed the plan to hold it on July 4, 2026. Trump says the cage fight will be one of many celebrations to mark 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
If Ivanka joins the event, it would be her first major role in her father’s orbit in years. She has kept away from public political life and has been focusing on raising her children with her husband, Jared Kushner.
In a 2022 social media post, Ivanka made it clear she wanted to step back. “I love my father very much. This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics,” she said. She also admitted she “hates” politics and wanted to avoid the constant stress it brings.
Ivanka and Kushner played major roles in Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. After his win, both were made advisors in the White House. But after the bitter 2020 election and the January 6 Capitol Hill riots, Ivanka quietly walked away from his political efforts. She did not take part in his run for a second term.
