On Tuesday, CNN reported on the existence of photos it discovered of Jeffrey Epstein, the late convicted sex offender, in attendance at Donald Trump’s wedding to his second wife, Marla Maples, at New York’s Plaza Hotel in December of 1993.
The network’s K-File team also discovered videos of Trump and Epstein “laughing and chatting together” at a Victoria’s Secret fashion show in 1999, as well as a photo in the early 1990s from the opening of the Harley-Davidson Cafe. This was during the period when Trump and Epstein were known to be friends, years before Epstein was ever accused of any sex crimes.
The report had stated that reporter Andrew Kaczynski called Trump for comment, at which point he responded, “You’ve got to be kidding me.” He then called CNN “fake news,” and hung up the phone.

On Wednesday night, Kaczynski appeared on Erin Burnett’s CNN show to talk about the story, which revealed for the first time that Trump had invited Epstein to his wedding. Howard Stern also appears in a photo at the wedding, with Epstein lurking in the background.
He also discussed and gave more details about his phone call with Trump.

“We were not on the phone very long, I think the call was about 30 seconds or so,” the reporter said on Burnett’s show. He reiterated that Trump had called CNN “fake news,” before hanging up.
The story arrived amid greater scrutiny on Trump’s relationship with Epstein in the 1990s, following the determination by Trump’s Justice Department that no more “Epstein files” would be released. The same day as CNN’s story, the Justice Department released a statement that Todd Blanche, a top Justice Department official, plans to meet soon with Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s convicted co-conspirator.
