Trump Responds To His Mother-In-Law’s Passing With Bizarre Sentiment: “Gone To A Beautiful Place In The Sky”

That was a bit awkward.

Late last night, former First Lady Melania Trump took to her official X (formerly known as Twitter) account to announce the passing of her “beloved mother,” Amalija Knavs, at the age of 78.

“It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Amalija,” ex-President Donald Trump’s third and current wife wrote in last night’s social media post. “Amalija Knavs was a strong woman who always carried herself with grace, warmth, and dignity.”

“She was entirely devoted to her husband, daughters, grandson, and son-in-law. We will miss her beyond measure and continue to honor and love her legacy,” the former first lady went on to add.

Melania did not include her mother’s cause of death in the social media post announcing her passing. However, her husband, former President Trump, confirmed recently that Melania’s mother was “very ill” with an undisclosed ailment — a matter that Trump announced to the public with little detail following questions regarding his wife’s whereabouts during the holidays. Donald’s wife was notably absent from the family’s gatherings over the holiday season, prompting the former president to disclose that Amalija was suffering from a severe illness and was even hospitalized at one point.

Now, Trump himself has broken his silence on the passing of his mother-in-law and it’s safe to say that he did so in true Trump fashion, complete with rather bizarre sentiments and a rather self-serving photo.

At around 10:30 last night, the scandal-ridden former president took to his Truth Social platform and wrote, “This is a very sad night for the entire Trump family!!! Melania’s great and beautiful mother, Amalija, has just gone to a beautiful place in the sky. She was an incredible woman, and will be missed far beyond words!”

Honestly, it reads a bit like the kind of memorial post someone would make for their family dog. But, I digress…

Donald followed that post up a few minutes later with a photo of himself alongside his mother-in-law, with the caption, “Melania’s great mother, Amalija.”

He has since re-posted the photo on his account this morning, just to make sure everyone sees it, I suppose.

Regardless of how we feel about Melania Trump, our hearts do go out to the former first lady and her family during this time.
