Trump Seemingly Throws His Legal Team Under The Bus As They Awkwardly Stand Beside Him During Latest Rant

This is so awkward.

Donald Trump is attacking E. Jean Carroll again, this time in a rambling speech where he tacked on his legal team just for good measure. His cockamamie comments flowed like a ship dumping bilge water during a news conference early Friday and he excoriated his own attorneys even though they have scored some pretty big victories for him in other trials.

That’s the thanks they get for being connected to the Tangerine Scream. It’s their own fault since they must have known he was a moron from day one.

He was ranting about his favorite topic: Donald Trump, the victim. This is him, 24/7. I’m sure he did this all through college and at every major change in his life.

But as he skewered E. Jean Carroll, who accused him of sexual abuse and defamation he went on to say that courts in New York City were treating him unfairly.

Po’ widdle Donnie boy.

His beleaguered defense team, including Alina Habba, were standing behind him looking like they’d like to fall in a hole and disappear from sight.

“I’m disappointed in my legal talent, I’ll be honest with you,” Trump said.

“I’ll be honest with you?” Coming from him that would be a real shock.

Trump’s news conference/rant-a-thon came after he attended an appeals hearing in New York City for the first Carroll trial, which concluded in 2023 with him being found liable for sexually abusing and defaming the respected journalist, who most notably wrote for Elle magazine.

Trump also went after the judge in that case, who ruled he must cough up $5 million, saying the trial was “rigged” and politically motivated, The Daily Beast reports.

Both Carroll and Trump were on hand for Friday’s oral arguments, whereupon the former president played the “it’s everyone else’s fault but mine” game, venting about his lawyers, whom, he said “didn’t mention the dress” she was wearing during the time of the alleged assault, which occurred in the mid-90s. The dress purportedly contains DNA from an unknown man.

“Today at the trial they didn’t mention the dress,” Trump said, criticizing his defense lawyers. “So the Monica Lewinsky-type dress was a big part of the trial, big, big part of the trial. I said, ‘why didn’t you mention that?’ And I heard there was a dress involved and I wasn’t frightened at all because I did nothing with her. Never touched this woman, saw this woman—I had no idea who she was.”

So it’s the dress’s fault. It’s Carroll’s fault, not his. Women are constantly attacked over this, and I think many of us have heard this so often that we’ve become desensitized to it. Men blaming women for the dress, the pants, the whatever they wore when they were being raped. It will be a lovely day when men like Trump learn to examine their own behavior instead of playing the blame game.

Trump, of course, will never learn to do this. He’s just not evolved enough.

And he went further off the deep end, alleging Carroll dreamed up her allegations by swiping the details from an unnamed Law & Order episode. Because of course, he did.

“Somebody just makes up a story probably out of Law & Order—I don’t know, she made it up out of somewhere—but check out the Law & Order episode that we’re talking about.”

Then he took a swipe at Anderson Cooper, over a live interview Carroll did with the noted CNN host. He alleged that encouraged Carroll to be openly hostile toward him. This claim remains unsubstantiated.

“Cooper says something to the effect, did he rape you? Did he rape you? He was so happy,” Trump said Friday. “Oh, did he rape you? And she gave a very good answer for me, but a bad answer for CNN, for Anderson. And he said, ‘We’re going to commercial break right now.’”

I think it’s safe to say that Trump, 78, will never change. He’s used to getting whatever he wants, whenever he wants. His father, Fred Trump Sr. was a ruthless man who used unethical methods when it suited him, even when it came to helping his son avoid the draft. It’s a Trump family tradition. Jared Kushner inks a $2 billion deal with a Saudi prince who’s allegedly responsible for the death of a Washington Post journalist. Melania’s a grifter. So is Ivanka.

This is nothing new.

Trump giving an unhinged, self-pitying press conference is nothing new either. Unfortunately.
