Memorial Day is a time to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives for the United States. It’s a day for respect, reflection, and unity. But instead of showing honor, President Donald Trump used the holiday to launch a personal attack.
In a long, angry post on Truth Social, Trump insulted his political opponents. He even called some Americans “scum.” It was not the kind of message people expected on such a solemn day.
He began his post by writing, “HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO ALL, INCLUDING THE SCUM THAT SPENT THE LAST FOUR YEARS TRYING TO DESTROY OUR COUNTRY…”

From there, his message took an even harsher turn.
Trump blamed “radical left minds” for letting “21 million people” enter the U.S. illegally. He claimed many of these people were “criminals and the mentally insane.” He said this all happened because of an “open border that only an incompetent president would approve.”
Clearly, Trump was attacking Former President Joe Biden and his immigration policies.
Trump didn’t stop with immigration. He also went after judges. He said they were protecting dangerous criminals and added, “ALL [of them] PROTECTED BY THESE USA HATING JUDGES WHO SUFFER FROM AN IDEOLOGY THAT IS SICK, AND VERY DANGEROUS FOR OUR COUNTRY.”
He then called on the U.S. Supreme Court to step in and stop what he called “monsters” who were hurting America.
This harsh message came just days after U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy made a major ruling. The judge said the Biden administration wrongly deported a man to Mexico. That man, known as O.C.G., had asked for protection because he feared violence in Guatemala. The judge said the deportation “lacked any semblance of due process.”
The Department of Homeland Security called Judge Murphy an “activist.” DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin defended the removal, saying, “The person in question was an illegally present alien who was granted withholding of removal to Guatemala. He was instead removed to Mexico, a safe third option for him, pending his asylum claim.”
Sadly, this isn’t the first time Trump has done this.
In 2020, he used Memorial Day to post the word “OBAMAGATE” on Twitter—referring to a made-up conspiracy that President Obama spied on his campaign. It was confusing, disrespectful, and had nothing to do with honoring soldiers.
Memorial Day should bring people together. It’s a day to honor those who sacrificed everything—not a day for insults and ego. Using this solemn holiday to settle political scores disrespects the very freedom those soldiers died to protect.
