Trump Spent Christmas Day Ranting About Obama, Called For Prosecution Of The Former President

Old grudges resurfacing

On Christmas Day, the president used his Truth Social account to boost a call for criminal charges against former President Barack Obama. He did not write the demand himself. But he shared it. And that choice mattered.

The post Trump shared came from a pro-Trump account and was direct. It demanded that Obama be “charged and prosecuted.” The message was aimed at Attorney General Pam Bondi and made clear that this was not a polite suggestion. “This isn’t a request,” the post said.

By reposting it, Trump took a fringe demand and pushed it in front of millions of followers. The timing was hard to miss. It came on Christmas Day, a holiday tied to peace and reflection.

Along with the screenshot, Trump shared a Fox News clip featuring Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. The clip was marked “BREAKING NEWS.” It pushed the claim that the “Russia Hoax was blatant.”

That phrase is not new. Trump has spent years trying to reframe investigations into his 2016 campaign as a conspiracy against him.

The post leaned on claims tied to the 2020 election. It suggested there was evidence that could justify criminal charges. No details were offered. No formal findings were linked. But the demand was apparent.

This was not an isolated moment.

Trump has often used social media to promote calls for arrests or charges against political opponents. These posts usually appear during moments of personal frustration or political pressure. They also follow a pattern. Attack first. Let allies echo the claim. Then repeat it until it feels normal.

Over time, that pattern has shifted the tone of public debate.

Calling for investigations is common in politics. Calling for prison is different. Doing it from the presidency is even more serious. Doing it on a major holiday adds another layer.

Obama has not responded. There has been no announcement from the Justice Department. And no public confirmation that any charges are being considered.
