Trump Staffer Reportedly Gets Tossed Out NBA Game After Tossing A Drink At Someone

A rather undiplomatic outburst

Britt McHenry, press advisor at Trump’s State Department, had what can generously be described as a rough Wednesday night. She was thrown out of the Washington Wizards home opener after tossing a beer on a fan, booed through the exit, and caught on camera arguing with security on her way out.

Video of the incident, published by TMZ, shows McHenry leaving her section at Capital One Arena as rally towels rain down around her and the crowd voices its opinion at full volume. She waves and blows kisses on her way out.

A second clip, also obtained by TMZ, shows her outside arguing with a security guard who was telling her to leave.

Her camp told a different story. Sources close to McHenry told TMZ that fans seated behind her had spent the night making misogynistic remarks toward her and lobbing inappropriate comments about Kyle Kuzma’s fiancée, model Winnie Harlow. They say objects were thrown at McHenry before she threw anything, and that the drink was part of a back-and-forth that had been escalating all night.

As for the exit, her associates were firm: “She left on her own to go to a bar.” Her male guest, they said, stayed in his seat, watched the Wizards beat the Bucks 128-116, and met her after.

The State Department has not commented.

Wednesday was not McHenry’s first time making news away from a sporting event. In 2015, while working as an ESPN correspondent, security footage caught her tearing into a towing company clerk. “Maybe if I was missing some teeth, they would hire me, huh?” she said on camera. She later issued an apology, saying she had “allowed my emotions to get the best of me.” ESPN suspended her and eventually let her go in 2017 during a round of company layoffs.

She landed at Fox News and Fox 5 DC, leaning into right-wing commentary before the latest chapter brought her to the Trump administration last month.

In 2019, she filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Fox News and co-host George “Tyrus” Murdoch, accusing him of sending her sexually explicit text messages and claiming the network retaliated after she raised the issue. Both sides walked away from the case in 2021 after reaching a confidential settlement.
