Trump Suddenly Has A Reason For Walking Down Stairs So Carefully — And No One Is Buying It

Always a new excuse

Speaking on The Dan Bongino Show on Monday, Donald Trump explained why he carefully descends the Air Force One steps. According to the 79-year-old president, it’s all Joe Biden’s fault.

Trump brought up the March 2021 moment when Biden, at 78, tripped three times on the Air Force One steps. “Ever noticed how slowly I am these days? Nice and slowly, I’m not looking to set any records. You don’t wanna go down. Could happen, could happen. But it can’t happen three times in one shot, OK?” he explained.

He added, “You ever watch me? I come down nice and slow. I’m not looking to set any records.”

In the past year, Trump has been seen holding the handrails and moving down the stairs very carefully. His bruised hand and swollen ankles have caused people to worry about his health. On Bongino’s podcast, he even gave Biden credit for handling his three trips with a quick recovery. “It’s probably the only thing I respected and yet it didn’t look elegant at all,” Trump said.

Trump explained his careful approach by pointing to the slippery steps. “To the best of my knowledge, it didn’t happen, so I give him credit,” he said, linking his caution directly to past experiences.

He has mentioned stair fears on multiple occasions. At the Navy’s 250th anniversary in Norfolk last October, he recalled, “We had a horrible, horrible president who had no clue what the hell was happening. The chances of him walking down those stairs successfully were not good. And I have to be careful because one day I’m gonna probably fall.”

He also shared how he approaches stairs safely, calling it his personal rule: “I always say, ‘Walk down the steps nice and slowly.’ You ever notice? I don’t have to bop down the stairs. ‘Walk nice and slowly.’”

Not everyone was impressed. Social media quickly lit up with reactions mocking Trump’s stair caution.

The podcast marked Bongino’s comeback and had about 220,000 people tuning in, according to Politico. Bongino, who is known for spreading conspiracy theories and briefly worked as Kash Patel’s deputy at the FBI, said he’s returning to lead the movement.

“I want to address the grifters out there who mistakenly thought I wasn’t coming back,” Bongino said. “This movement’s been hijacked by a small group of dips–ts and bums and losers, who are nothing but doomers under the frame of accountability.”

Bongino also went after his critics and the media, calling them “the libs and their media pals” and telling them to “Get your lips and just pucker them up and plant a big wet one on my a–.” He didn’t hold back on the FBI either, attacking alleged leakers: “You guys destroyed the place, and you tried to destroy us too. But I’m back now, and you can go f— yourself,” he said.
